Quizzes

Q: Do I need to add a quiz to my eCourse ?

A: No you don't. But quizzes are very helpful for learners to check what they have learnt and to consolidate learning. By passing the quiz (the pass mark is set by the eCourse author), the learner is also able to download an eCourse certificate which confirms the number of CPD points they have been awarded.

Q: Why does it ask me about a revision when I change or update my quiz ?

A: Because some learners who have enrolled may already have started or taken your quiz it is important that their scores are kept from the version they took otherwise by making changes to the quiz you may change their results ! If you do make changes then remember to saved as a revised version but don’t worry, you’ll be prompted to do so.

Q: Can I have more than one correct answer for a quiz question ?

A: Yes. Simply select all correct answers that apply. You can also assign scores so that a wrong answer gives a minus score. If you choose to do this it is probably best to warn those taking it or they may be surprised if they happen to get a negative score !

Q: What happens if I make a mistake when creating a quiz and want to change it ?

A: Take care before publishing your eCourse to check for errors as it is always easier to correct them before your eCourse is opened up to enrolment. We do understand that despite best efforts, mistakes do happen and so you can simply go in and edit the quiz questions and answers at any time. Remember that people who have already taken the quiz will still be using the old version. In order to access the new version they will have to unenrol from your eCourse and then enrol again. Remember that you can use your social media to alert people to potential errors / corrections, or the Q&As on the eCourse.

Q: Why do I have to open up the quiz component twice to be able to add questions ?

A: We appreciate that it can take time to carefully construct a quiz for your eCourse. It can be very frustrating if you forget to save it once you have finished, or if you are interrupted. Therefore, if you firstly create and save the main quiz elements (name, pass mark etc) and then go back in to enter the questions / answers (a new button will appear 'Manage Questions'), then it reduces the likelihood that you will lose your hard work. Remember, it's always a good idea to have your questions / answers saved elsewhere such as on your own computer, and if you make any changes to your quiz always save it !!
